What we do

ART GOLD Sri Lanka

Sl Map

ART marks a new and innovative approach to coordination by supporting National Governments in their efforts to encourage active community participation. The UNDP ART GOLD Sri Lanka Programme (AGSL) forms part of this initiative and creates innovative partnerships within a global system of cooperation by linking local, national and international actors. AGSL promotes area-based development through mobilizing international cooperation resources, supporting north-south and south-south cooperation and through channelling specialized technical resources by activating thematic networks and universities associated with ART.

Objectives

  • Provide guidance and channel support from the national level to the initiatives carried out at province level.
  • Strengthen the capacities of national institutions in the programming and management of local development and promote sharing of international resources into the provinces and other local government entities.
  • AGSL foresees the implementation of various national level activities based on successful experiences at the local level. Initiatives such as the partnership, which includes the exchange of innovative agricultural technologies, with the Gorontalo province in Indonesia and the Early Childhood interventions shall be supported by national level events aiming at disseminating best practices and exchanging experience with other provinces.
