Distance Learning Programme for the graduate management trainees of Government of Sri Lanka-Distance Learning pilot programme |

This pilot project aims to improve the responsiveness of central level institutions for effective policy formulation, enforcement and review in order to achieve national development priorities This will be achieved through developing the potential of graduate trainees in the Sri Lankan Public Service. The pilot is in the Ministry of Finance and Planning. Under this project 150 graduates employed in the Ministry will be offered a professional Post graduate - University Diploma, through a distance learning mechanism.It is hoped that the pilot, or a modified version of it, will eventually be scaled up and rolled out across the public service. Therefore, the Ministry of Finance and Planning will form an Advisory Committee of Human Resource Managers and other stakeholders who will come together to monitor the programme, and based on the lessons learned, this committee will be responsible for advising on next steps with regard to rolling out and adaptation.
