Action 2 |
|
This project is a joint UN initiative with funding from UNDP and a UN corporate funding facility, called Action 2, which is available to support UNCT activities to strengthen the national system of human rights protection.
The project is implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Disaster Management and Human rights.
Objectives
The project has contributed to strengthening the national system for the protection and promotion of human rights through support for 3 priority initiatives:
-
Preparatory work for a National Action Plan on Human Rights, including a stocktaking of outstanding implementation issues from treaty body recommendations, a series of national and regional multi-stakeholder consultations, and recommendations for a six-monthly progress tracking system to be overseen by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Human Rights.
-
Establishing a comprehensive database tracking system to provide a centralized databank of information on all cases of disappearances. Previously there was no centralized tracking system which made obtaining information on the status of cases of disappearances a tedious task
- Provision of accessible information on human rights and incorporation of human rights based approach (HRBA) into development work.
