Livelihood Development Project-I

Sl Map

The LDP project was implemented in the tsunami and conflict-affected areas of the North and East, where a situation of extreme economic hardship heightened the risk of a possible return to conflict. The main objective of the project was to address the recovery and economic rehabilitation needs of the affected communities. The project delivered a package of inter-related activities that focused on stimulating local economic activity and assisting in the reconstruction process. The project also promoted values such as social cohesion. All interventions were determined through extensive consultations.

Objectives

  • 14406 beneficiaries were supported to resume their traditional livelihood and income-generation activities.
  • 6960 beneficiaries were provided with assistance for alternative income generation activities.
  • 39948 individuals have benefited through increased access to community and livelihood infrastructure
